Sanatech: a look at the organic and natural production chain
A few days ago we visited SANA in Bologna to discover the latest trends in the organic, biodynamic and sustainable fields of nutrition and well-being, sectors in which technology plays a fundamental role.
The event, now in its thirty-fifth edition, is organized by BolognaFiere in collaboration with AssoBio, FederBio and Cosmetica Italia, with the support of ICE – Agency for the promotion abroad and the internationalization of Italian companies, and the patronage of the Ministry of the ecological transition and of the Emilia-Romagna Region. It was held from 7 to 10 September, welcoming professionals and companies active in the Organic & Natural Food, Care & Beauty and Green Lifestyle sectors.
An event active since 1988, SANA is an important meeting point for the natural and organic world. Looking to the future of consumption, its main objective is to promote innovative and niche products in the sectors of certified organic food, natural cosmetics and green lifestyle.
Ample space therefore for organic, natural, vegan, plant-based, cruelty-free, fair trade products, without unwanted ingredients and with reduced environmental impact. Thanks to the participation of over 600 exhibitors from over 50 countries, SANA reconfirms itself as a point of reference for the B2B sector.
Sanatech, the professional exhibition dedicated to the agri-food, zootechnics and organic and eco-sustainable well-being, has also been reconfirmed this year. This is a rather recent innovation: Sanatech was created during the pandemic, in 2021, with the aim of responding to the growing needs of the primary sector, in a context oriented towards the ecological transition. From the beginning, Sanatech has focused on the production aspect, delving into precision organic farming, traceability, the circular economy, technologies for natural cosmetics, but also bio-control, the bio-packaging sector and the blockchain.
In this third edition, Sanatech provided a broad overview of the latest developments in technology, legislation, institutional aspects, market trends and cultivation techniques available for the organic and sustainable sector. It also offered a program of events and conferences, full of news and ideas of interest for professionals in the sector and beyond.
This year, the focus was on organic cereals, a central theme in a historical period marked by the climate crisis and a European war and which makes this market one of the most unstable. Despite these fluctuations, in Italy, there has been an important expansion in recent months.
Among the innovations presented at Sanatech, there is new information relating to traceability, the circular economy, transformation, bio-packaging and technologies for cosmetics and also to the large-scale retail sector. Sanatech’s goal is to become a point of reference for the development of the organic and sustainable production chain, offering the best tools for the creation of products capable of resisting climate change and respecting the high quality standards of organic Made in Italy.
Sanatech therefore becomes an important interlocutor both for producers, supporting them in the management of innovation, and for restaurateurs, logistics operators, the processing industry, packaging and distribution.
